In short: Gates of Olympus 1000 is the original Zeus slot with a higher ceiling. The rules are almost identical, but multiplier orbs now include a 1,000x value and the cap triples to 15,000x. It suits players who know the original and want its biggest moments to be bigger, and who accept that the maximum becomes roughly four times rarer.
The same engine
Pragmatic Play released Gates of Olympus 1000 on 14 December 2023. The six-by-five grid pays anywhere: eight or more matching crowns, goblets, gems and other symbols win, winners are removed and new symbols tumble in until nothing further pays. Default stakes run from 0.20 to 240.
Multiplier orbs can land on any reel during ordinary spins and tumbles. Each takes one of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x or 1,000x. At the end of a tumble sequence all orbs on screen are added together and the total multiplies the sequence's win.
Free spins and the running total
Four or more scatters award 15 free spins; three or more inside the round add five more. Each orb that lands on a winning free spin is added to a total multiplier that lasts for the round, and that total multiplies a win whenever a new orb lands on a paying spin. A paying spin without a new orb is paid at face value, so the total only matters on spins that bring a fresh orb as well as a win.
A 1,000x orb landing early is what turns an ordinary round into an exceptional one, because every later orb-and-win spin then carries it.
Ante bet and buy
The ante raises the stake by 25% and doubles the natural chance of free spins, while disabling the buy. Without it, free spins can be bought for 100x the bet, with four scatters guaranteed on the triggering spin, at casinos that offer buys. The RTP is 96.50% in normal play and with the ante, and 96.49% on the buy.
Ceiling, odds and volatility
The cap is 15,000x the bet, or 12,000x the larger stake with the ante on. The in-game rules put the chance of the maximum at about 1 in 2.7 million spins, against about 1 in 700,000 for the original's 5,000x. Pragmatic rates the 1000 high volatility.
The default RTP is the same 96.50% as the original. The Ontario-regulated version checked shows a range of 96.49% to 96.5%, reflecting the buy figure. Casinos can choose lower settings, as why the same slot can have different RTP explains, and Ontario stake caps can be lower than the studio's 240: one regulated casino stops at $125 a spin.
Which Gates to play
Against Gates of Olympus, the 1000 changes one value list and one cap. Everything else, from the tumble rules to the ante and the 100x buy, carries over unchanged. Players who enjoy the original's free spins but find its 5,000x cap limiting have a clear upgrade; players who liked how often the original's big rounds came round may find the 1000 slower going. Sweet Bonanza 1000 applies the same 1000 treatment to the candy game.
In the free demo above, compare how a free spins total grows with and without an early 1,000x orb; the difference shows where the extra ceiling comes from.
