Pros and cons
- A named daily tournament structure (Big Shot, Rumble, Dash, Voyage, Mayhem, Classic) with buy-ins from one cent.
- A dedicated iOS and Android app, a Windows and Mac client and a browser version.
- Shared 888 banking: Interac and MuchBetter cash-outs at a published 2–4 business days, $5 minimum.
- A tracker snapshot counted about 23 cash-game players on average, the lowest of the Ontario networks it follows.
- The Ontario pages print no stake table, rake or tournament-fee schedule.
- The pool is Ontario-only and ring-fenced, so stakes above the mid-range are rare.
- Cash-outs run 2–8 business days by method, and the first business day is a hold.
- The client is described as dated, and 888's own pages disagree on what happens to an idle balance after a year.
Who it suits: Suits tournament players and low-stakes recreational players, particularly those who like one-handed mobile play or a Windows and Mac client. Cash-game regulars and anyone wanting high stakes should check the lobby at their usual hours before depositing, because the single Ontario pool is small, and should note that the Ontario pages do not print the rake.
Still unconfirmed
- Which cash stakes and games actually run in the Ontario lobby, and when; the games page lists the variants but prints no stake table
- The rake and tournament-fee schedule for Ontario; none is printed on the public pages
- Whether SNAP fast-fold tables are open in the Ontario lobby, and whether private tables (Play with Friends) are open to Ontario players
- Whether third-party HUDs and hand histories are allowed on the Ontario client; the help centre could not be searched
- Whether poker, casino and sport share one balance as well as one login; the responsible-gaming page treats limits as per site

Poker games and tournaments at 888 Poker Ontario
Cash games
The poker-games page, read from an Ontario connection on 8 October 2026, describes cash games as available 24/7 and lists Texas Hold'em, Progressive Knockout (PKO), BLAST, Omaha Hi, Omaha Hi-Lo, 5 Card Draw, HORSE, Razz, 2-7 Triple Draw, 5-Card Omaha, Badugi, Chinese Poker and Short Deck, and it also names God of the Arena. Both app listings name only Texas Hold'em and Omaha, and the page prints no blind levels, no table-limit table and no list of what is open in the Ontario lobby at a given hour, so treat the long list as the menu rather than a promise. 888 does not print a stake table for Ontario. Secondary reports put no-limit Hold'em from about 1c/2c up to roughly $10/$20 and pot-limit Omaha up to about $2/$5; treat those as unconfirmed and check the lobby for the stakes you play.
Tournaments
This is the room's strongest area. The tournaments page names a daily structure: The Big Shot (the day's main event), The Rumble (progressive knockout bounties), The Dash (turbo), The Voyage (deep stack), The Mayhem (six-max) and The Classic (freezeouts with shorter late registration). Sit & Gos for six or nine players, multi-table tournaments, heads-up, satellites and Mystery Bounty events run around the clock, with buy-ins starting at one cent. The page says guaranteed prize pools are up for grabs but prints no amounts, and no dated October 2026 schedule was visible on it when checked. The homepage's upcoming-tournament tiles on 8 October showed an Early PKO Rumble with a $5.50 buy-in, a Big Mystery Bounty at $1 and a Mystery Bounty at $11, which gives a feel for the low end of the range. Earlier festivals give a sense of scale: a winter series in January 2023 advertised over $400,000 in guarantees, and a Mystery Bounty festival in March 2024 ran 23 events with a $50,000 main event.
Fast formats
BLAST is a three-handed, time-limited lottery sit & go with a random prize multiplier; the Ontario page does not print the multiplier range. SNAP, a fast-fold format where new cards are dealt as soon as you fold, is named in the Google Play description, and the tournaments page describes it as fast-paced. It does not appear on the games page or the homepage, and no table limits or rake for it are printed, so confirm it in the lobby; one review calls it a minor part of the Ontario offer. The app listings also describe a "Play with Friends" mode, though reports differ on whether private tables are open to Ontario players.

Payment methods
Deposits at 888 Poker
The poker room uses the same cashier as the rest of 888 in Ontario: Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Interac e-Transfer, MuchBetter and Paysafecard, with a $10 minimum and up to 10 minutes' processing. Mastercard and Paysafecard can fund an account but cannot receive a withdrawal. No separate poker cashier or buy-in transfer page turned up. The full payment table is in the 888 Casino banking section.

Payouts and limits
Cashing out from 888 Poker
Poker cash-outs follow 888's shared timetable: Interac and MuchBetter 2–4 business days in total, Visa and Apple Pay up to six, wire transfer 5–8, with a $5 minimum and a cancellable first business day. The poker pages do not differ from the casino's.
Two rules matter more to a poker bankroll than to a casino player. A first cash-out triggers the usual document checks (photo ID, proof of address and a copy of the funding card with the middle digits covered), and a request left pending for lack of documents is reversed after seven days. And idle bankrolls are not safe forever: the user agreement describes a monthly fee of $8 once an account has been inactive for a year, while a help-centre article describes closure and removal of the balance 30 days after the account goes dormant. The two documents do not match, so move a bankroll you are not using before the 12-month mark.
- Published payout window
- 2–8 business days, depending on method: Interac and MuchBetter 2–4, Visa and Apple Pay up to 6, wire transfer 5–8. Each total includes a first business day in which the request can still be cancelled. Operator-published
- Notes
- The withdrawal policy sets a minimum of $5 for all methods and says some methods cap the amount per withdrawal without printing figures. Deposits made by Visa or Interac go back to the original method first. Photo ID, card copies and proof of address may be required before processing, and a pending request that needs documents is reversed after seven days. Your bank or processor may charge a fee.
This is the operator's stated window, not a test result. Identity checks and your bank can add time.
Mobile app
The 888 Poker app and desktop client
The Canadian App Store lists "888 poker Ontario Cash Games" under the seller name 888 UK Limited. When checked on 8 October 2026 it showed a 4.2 average from about 3,600 ratings, version 8.56.7 (dated 28 September), iOS 15 or later, about 244 MB and an 18+ age rating. Google Play lists the same title, offered by 888 Holdings PLC, with a 4.1 average from roughly 2,000 reviews, version 8.56.6.24, more than 50,000 downloads, Android 9 or later and an update on 28 September 2026. Its data-safety section says the app may share location, personal information and four other data types with third parties, encrypts data in transit and lets you request deletion. The listings say the app is for Ontario players aged 19 or older and mention sports betting and casino games alongside poker, which is consistent with the single account.
The app is the product's strength: portrait play with one hand, multi-tabling, a browser version for anyone who cannot install software and a Windows and Mac client for desktop play. One review says the desktop client allows up to six tables and the phone four, though 888 does not print the limit.

Safety and regulation
Who runs 888 Poker in Ontario
VHL Ontario Limited operates 888 Poker. The user agreement says it is incorporated in Gibraltar, is part of the evoke group, is registered with the AGCO and operates under an agreement with iGaming Ontario. One clause of the agreement uses the name "888 Ontario Limited"; the regulator's list names VHL Ontario Limited as the operator. Age and identity checks can be requested at registration or at any time, with funds held until age is verified, and source-of-funds details can be requested too. Our verification guide covers the documents.

Customer support
888 Poker support and complaints
Live chat is open 24/7 after login, with an automated assistant first. The toll-free line, 1-833-677-8890, is staffed daily from 8am to midnight ET. Claims about a transaction must be raised within 7 business days, a decision is due within 70 days and an appeal to the Support Manager within 20, after which iGaming Ontario's complaint programme can step in. Suspected collusion or bot play goes to support-on@888.ca. Trustpilot pages for the global 888poker site are heavily negative, but they cover many markets, so they say little about the Ontario room; Ontario-specific complaints are hard to find, and the few that surface concern a withdrawal delay and a login problem.

Responsible gambling
Responsible gambling tools for poker players
The Control Centre offers deposit, loss and playing-time limits (daily, weekly or monthly; a decrease applies at once, an increase after 24 hours), Take a Break from one day to three months and self-exclusion from six months to a lifetime. Playing-time limits are the useful control for a game that can run for hours; the responsible-gaming page does not mention reality checks. The responsible-gaming page also says that preferences set on one 888 website apply only to your account on that site, not to the other 888 sites, so a limit set at one product does not carry over to the others; set it again wherever you play. BetGuard, from iGaming Ontario, lets you exclude yourself from every regulated site at once, and ConnexOntario offers free, confidential help at 1-866-531-2600. Poker players who want deeper cash traffic should look at Ontario's other rooms: in the same tracker snapshot, GGPoker averaged about 400 cash players against 888's 23, and BetMGM's poker network about 50. Within 888, the casino and sportsbook are separate sites with their own reviews on the same login. For tournament-led play at low buy-ins, 888's schedule is the strongest reason to choose this room.
More detail
Traffic, rake and software: what 888 Poker does and does not publish
How many players?
888 does not publish player counts. A third-party tracker, exported on 15 September 2026, estimated an average of 23 cash-game players over 30 days (20 over seven days, 23 over 90), against about 538 across all Ontario networks, and a 30-day trend of minus 8% while the province grew 2.9%. Daily tournament entries averaged about 7,600 (about 9,200 during an autumn series) against roughly 27,600 for Ontario. In the same snapshot GGPoker's Ontario room, the largest, averaged about 400 cash players. These are 24-hour averages, so the busiest evening hours run higher and daytime lower, and they are third-party estimates, not 888 data. An earlier estimate for late 2024 put the room at roughly 34 cash seats, so the pool has been small for some time.
Shared liquidity
The pool stays Ontario-only for now. In November 2025 the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled that Ontario may allow pooling with international players provided iGaming Ontario keeps control, and a further appeal was filed in December 2025. Pooling at 888 would also need new iGaming Ontario rules and an agreement, so nothing about today's tables depends on it.
Rake and fees
The Ontario pages print no rake percentages, caps or tournament-fee table, and the public "Limits & Rake" page returned an error when checked. The only rake wording on the homepage belongs to a promotion, not to a fee schedule. Figures quoted for the global 888poker site should not be assumed for Ontario. Look at the in-client rake and fee schedule before you choose a stake, and compare the total fee on a tournament buy-in as well as the rake on a cash table.
Software and tools
The Poker 8 client runs as a download for Windows and Mac (macOS 10.12 or later, about 800 MB of free space), as an Android and iOS app, and in a browser without a download. Reviewers call the client dated but stable, with few disconnects, and the app is built for one-handed play in portrait orientation. The user agreement permits "aids" such as statistics, opening-hand charts and tracking or display tools and bans any tool that acts on a player's behalf, along with bots and scraping. Whether third-party HUDs work in Ontario is not confirmed, and one review describes a built-in VPIP overlay instead. The help centre's search is closed to automated tools, so a HUD or hand-history policy may exist there that this review could not read.
Fair play
Collusion, chip dumping and bots are prohibited, with permanent bans and forfeiture of funds as penalties. Suspected cheating can be reported to support-on@888.ca, and complaints about cheating between players may go to iGaming Ontario's complaint programme. AGCO's standards for peer-to-peer games set the baseline every Ontario room must meet; our page on Ontario casinos with poker explains what those standards require.
Full review and detailed analysis
888 Poker Ontario verdict: tournaments first, thin cash tables
888 Poker is the poker room VHL Ontario Limited runs in Ontario, listed by iGaming Ontario as its own website, 888poker.ca, next to the casino site and the sportsbook. It went live with the rest of 888 on 4 April 2022, and trade reports at the time described it as the only poker room open on day one. One 888 account covers all three sites, so a poker player does not need a second registration to use the others.
The defining fact is the size of the pool. 888 runs a ring-fenced, Ontario-only player pool that is not shared with other rooms or with players outside the province. A third-party tracker snapshot from mid-September 2026 counted about 23 cash-game players on average at 888 Poker, last among the Ontario networks it lists, while tournament entries averaged about 7,600 a day and ranked mid-table. That points to a room where the schedule, not the cash lobby, is the draw.
The score at the top reflects that: a clear tournament structure, a dedicated app and desktop client and 888's shared banking, against very thin cash traffic and rake that the Ontario pages do not print. Slots, live dealer and sports are separate products on separate sites, and each has its own review.

Can I play against players outside Ontario at 888 Poker?
No. 888 Poker runs an Ontario-only pool that is not shared with other rooms or with other jurisdictions. A 2025 court ruling allows pooling with international players if iGaming Ontario keeps control, but nothing has been announced for 888.
How many players are on 888 Poker in Ontario?
888 does not publish counts. A third-party tracker snapshot from mid-September 2026 estimated about 23 cash-game players on average and about 7,600 daily tournament entries; both are 24-hour averages and third-party estimates.
Which poker games does 888 Poker offer in Ontario?
Texas Hold'em and Omaha are named in the Ontario app listings, with the poker-games page adding Omaha Hi-Lo. Tournaments include The Big Shot, Rumble, Dash, Voyage, Mayhem and Classic series, sit & gos, heads-up, satellites, Mystery Bounty and BLAST lottery sit & gos.

One login covers all three 888 sites: the user agreement allows only one player account across them. Whether the balance is shared as well is not stated, so check the cashier.
How fast are 888 Poker withdrawals?
The minimum is $5. Published totals are 2–4 business days for Interac and MuchBetter, up to six for Visa and Apple Pay and 5–8 for wire transfer, each including a first business day in which the request can be cancelled.
Are HUDs allowed at 888 Poker in Ontario?
The user agreement permits statistics, opening-hand charts and tracking or display tools as aids, and bans bots and any tool that acts for the player. Whether third-party HUDs work on the Ontario client is not confirmed.
