Tools available at regulated operators

Operators in Ontario's regulated market are required to provide player-protection controls. These are the ones worth setting up on the day you open an account, not later.

Deposit limits
A cap on how much you can add to your account per day, week or month. Increases are subject to a delay; decreases take effect immediately.
Time and session limits
A cap on how long you can play, or a reminder that appears at an interval you choose.
Loss limits
A cap on net losses over a period, where the operator offers it.
Timeout
A short, fixed break — typically from 24 hours to several weeks — after which the account reopens automatically.
Self-exclusion
A longer, binding exclusion from the operator. Ontario also offers BetGuard, a centralized self-exclusion program covering registered operators. How that program works is in the BetGuard guide.

BetGuard is Ontario’s central self-exclusion program for the regulated market. How BetGuard works covers who can use it, how long an exclusion lasts, and the official contact routes.

Signs worth taking seriously

  • Playing longer or for more than you intended, repeatedly.
  • Depositing again to recover a loss, rather than stopping for the day.
  • Gambling with money set aside for something else.
  • Hiding how much you play, or how much you have lost.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you are not playing.

None of these on its own means the same thing for everyone. Together, they are a reasonable prompt to set a limit, take a timeout, or talk to someone.

How the odds actually work

The house edge is the casino’s mathematical advantage over time. It varies by game, rules and bet. Short-term results can vary widely, so a winning session does not prove that a betting system works. No betting system can guarantee a win.

Where this site stands

We publish research on casinos, and every casino we have reviewed so far is a commercial partner. That is disclosed wherever it applies. What we do not do is place a commercial link next to player-protection content, publish bonus offers, or frame gambling as a way to make money.

If you have self-excluded, or you are trying to stop, this site is not a good place to be spending time. Close it, and call the number above.
