In short: Wolf Gold is Pragmatic Play's 2017 Western slot: 25 lines on a 5x3 grid, free spins with a giant symbol in the middle, and a Money Respin that can fill the screen with cash moons. It pays small amounts often and keeps its larger prizes in the respin round, under a 2,500x ceiling. It works best as a steady, easy-to-follow game rather than a hunt for a huge multiplier.

Twenty-five lines under a desert moon

Wolf Gold runs on five reels and three rows with 25 fixed paylines, and came out on 27 April 2017. The setting is the American desert at dusk, and the full moons on the reels are the money symbols that drive its best feature. It won Best Slot Game at the 2018 Malta Gaming Awards and has stayed one of Pragmatic Play's best-known titles since.

The default stake range is 0.25 to 250 per spin. There is no ante bet and no bonus buy, so both features arrive only through ordinary spins. That keeps the cost of a session predictable: every spin costs the same, and nothing can be bought to skip the wait.

Free spins with one giant symbol

Three scatters award five free spins. For the whole round, reels 2, 3 and 4 merge into a single 3x3 symbol, so the centre of the grid shows one large picture on each spin. When that picture matches what lands on reels 1 and 5, it can complete many of the 25 lines at once; when it does not, the spin returns little.

Three more scatters during the round add three spins, and there is no cap on retriggers. Five starting spins is a short round, so one or two retriggers make a real difference to what it pays.

The Money Respin and three fixed jackpots

Six or more moons in the base game start the Money Respin with three respins. From then on only moons can land. Each new one resets the counter to three, and when the respins run out, every moon on the grid pays its value. Cash values run from 1x to 100x the bet.

Some moons carry a jackpot instead of cash. The game shows three fixed jackpots worth 30x, 100x and 1,000x the bet, and the top one, the Mega, is also paid if all 15 positions fill before the counter runs out. The 2,500x top win lines up with that best case: 15 moons at 100x each plus the 1,000x Mega. The respin can also trigger during free spins, so the two features sometimes overlap.

RTP, hit rate and the 2,500x ceiling

Pragmatic Play's default RTP for Wolf Gold is 96.01%. Casinos can choose other settings, so the figure in the game's own info screen is the one that applies; why the same slot can have different RTP explains how that works. In Ontario, at least one regulated casino runs it at 96.0% with stakes from $0.25 to $125.

Pragmatic puts the hit frequency at 41.84%, so roughly two spins in five return something, though many of those returns are smaller than the stake. The studio gives no volatility rating on its official game listing. In practice the pattern is clear enough: frequent small line wins, a short free spins round, and most of the upside held back for the Money Respin.

Two things to watch in the demo

Two things tell you most about Wolf Gold. The first is how often five moons land without a sixth, because six is the gate to the respin and near misses are common. The second is how the giant symbol in free spins lines up with reels 1 and 5: matching outer reels are what turn a five-spin round into a worthwhile one.

PowerJackpot and Ultimate are different games

Two later releases reuse the name. Wolf Gold PowerJackpot (September 2022) adds a two-tier Power Wheel and a shared progressive jackpot, while Wolf Gold Ultimate widens the respin to as many as four grids with Mini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpots and a 5,000x ceiling. Neither changes the original, which keeps its fixed jackpots and plain 25-line base game.

Where it falls short

Between features the base game is plain, and five free spins is short by modern standards. Neither feature can be bought, and a 2,500x cap is modest next to Pragmatic's newer multiplier games. If watching a respin counter reset and a grid slowly fill sounds appealing, there is plenty here; five-figure multiples are simply not on the menu.
