Explore game categories

Pick a category to see which reviewed casinos confirm it. We list a game only when a casino confirms it, so a casino missing from a page has not been confirmed yet.

Coverage by game type

How many of our 19 reviewed casinos confirm each game type. A casino not counted here has not been confirmed yet, which is not the same as not offering it.

What we can and cannot say about games

Game counts are printed exactly as the casino states them: a figure such as "400+" stays "400+". We publish RTP only where a game page records the figure from the studio or operator, because the same title can be set differently on different sites. Our guide on same-slot-different-RTP explains why.

A catalogue shown on a casino's site in another country may not match what is playable in Ontario.

A map of the game categories

What each category is, and where to look.

Slots
Reel-based games decided by a random number generator. Each title has its own math, volatility and, often, more than one RTP version.
Table games
Blackjack, roulette, baccarat and similar games, in RNG (software) or live form.
Live dealer
Real tables streamed from a studio. See the live dealer hub for how that works.
Jackpots
Slots or games with a top prize that is fixed or grows with play. Their disclosure rules cover the progressive element.
Crash and instant games
Short-round games where you pick a bet and, in some formats, when to stop. They are not a separate Ontario category here, and we list them only where a review confirms them.
Poker and bingo
Poker is played against other players or against a paytable depending on the product; bingo is a numbers-draw game. Availability is confirmed per casino.

How RTP and house edge differ by category

Return to player is the share of money wagered that a game pays back on average over a very large number of rounds, and the house edge is what is left. How it is set differs by category. A slot's RTP is built into its math and can be offered in more than one version, which is why we quote one only where a game page records the studio or operator figure (see same slot, different RTP). A table game's edge follows from its rules and the bet you choose.

Published figures show the spread. Blackjack with basic strategy has a house edge usually quoted below 1%, but a 6:5 payout adds about 1.4 points. European roulette has a house edge of 2.70% and the double-zero version 5.26%. In eight-deck baccarat the banker bet is about 1.06%, the player bet 1.24% and the tie bet about 14.4% at 8 to 1. None of these is a forecast for a session, and no bet pattern changes them. Our RTP and house edge calculator turns a figure into an average cost.

How games are tested and approved in Ontario

Under standard 4.08 of the Registrar's Standards, games, random number generators and parts of the gaming system that accept, process or determine bets must be approved by the Registrar or certified by an independent testing laboratory registered by AGCO. Operators must also make information on the odds of winning, payout odds or returns available to players before betting (4.06) and document the operator's advantage on each wager (4.05). Slots must not offer auto-play (2.16). The certification guide explains the laboratory step in more detail. Certification is a technical check on fairness and integrity. It says nothing about whether a game is good value.

Casino game questions

Does a casino with slots also have live dealer games?

Not always. Each game type is confirmed separately. Use the slots and live dealer pages, or the casino's review.

Where do the game totals come from?

From the casino's own published figures. We do not audit them.

Why is there no RTP on these pages?

The same slot can run at different RTP settings on different sites. These category pages show no RTP; where a game page records a studio or operator figure it says which, and your casino's version can differ, so check the game's information screen.

Which game category has the lowest house edge?

Among the games covered here, blackjack with basic strategy and the banker bet in baccarat have the lowest published edges, but they depend on the rules of the table. A slot's edge depends on the version the casino runs and is shown in the game's own information.

Are crash and instant games available in Ontario?

They are not a category we list. A review mentions them only where the casino confirms them, and the same testing and disclosure rules apply.

Does certification mean a game pays out more often?

No. Certification checks that the technology meets Ontario's standards for integrity and fairness. It does not set or promise a return.

Can slots at Ontario casinos autoplay?

No. Standard 2.16 says games shall not provide auto-play features for slots.
