What to look for in a live casino
Use the list to find casinos with live tables, then check the individual review for the details we have documented. Blackjack, roulette, baccarat and studio names appear only where they are supported by the available evidence.
How a live table reaches your screen
A live dealer game is a real table in a studio, filmed by several cameras and streamed to your device. The dealer deals the cards or spins the wheel, and software reads the result so the game can settle your bet. Unlike an RNG table, the outcome is a physical event, but your bet, balance and history still run through the casino's gaming system, so Ontario's rules cover live games like any other.
Most casinos stream tables from specialist studios rather than running their own. Evolution describes its live casino, game shows and brands such as Ezugi as built in-house. Pragmatic Play Live describes 4K cameras, HTML5 streaming to desktop and mobile, and latency of 1.5 to 2 seconds. Those are supplier claims, not measurements. Which studios a casino carries appears on its review only where documented, and casinos that carry several studios can differ in tables, limits and lobby layout even when both list live blackjack.
Tables, variants and game shows
The category label covers very different products.
Classic tables
Blackjack, roulette and baccarat dealt in real time. Rules differ by table, so read the rules panel before you sit down.
Variants
Blackjack tables with a 6:5 payout add roughly 1.4 percentage points to the house edge compared with 3:2. A double-zero roulette wheel carries a house edge of 5.26%, against 2.70% on a single-zero wheel.
Game shows
Wheel, dice or number-draw formats run by a presenter and built around multipliers. They play more like a slot with a host than like a card table.
Table limits
Minimum and maximum bets are set per table and shown in the lobby. They change, so reviews do not record them.
Latency, stability and dropped connections
Streaming adds a delay between the studio and your screen, and your connection adds more. If it wobbles, the video can freeze while the round carries on, and the studio's betting window may close before your bet lands.
Ontario sets a floor for failures. Under standard 4.21, operators must recover from interruptions in a timely way and, when a game cannot continue, pay what was won to that point or return the bets, whichever is better for the player. Operators must also monitor live-game payback for signs of faulty performance (4.09) and keep controls so presenters cannot compromise a game's integrity (4.36). If you dispute an interrupted round, the complaints guide explains how to escalate.
What a live dealer listing does not tell you
A listing confirms the category exists at that casino. It does not show how many tables are open, which studios supply them, the table limits, whether game shows are included, or how the video runs on your phone. Check the casino's own live lobby before you deposit. Location checks apply on every device (see our guide to apps and mobile play), and live tables can run for hours, so set a deposit or time limit first.
Live dealer casino questions
Does listing here mean the casino has a strong live lobby?
The list confirms live dealer availability. A review gives the available detail on the casino’s wider product and its editorial assessment.
Does every reviewed casino currently list live dealer games?
No. Most reviewed casinos list live dealer tables; a few do not confirm streamed tables before sign-up: Zodiac shows no live row, and Yukon Gold's host-named tables are filmed with computer-drawn results. Table counts, studios and game-show titles can differ by casino.
If a casino is listed, have you mapped its live tables?
We record the tables and providers we can support on individual reviews. The list itself is an availability comparison.
Is live dealer the same as RNG table games?
No. Live dealer is streamed with a person on camera. RNG tables are software. They are different products.
Are live dealer games tested in Ontario?
Gaming equipment used in live dealer games that has electronic components must be approved by the Registrar or certified by an AGCO-registered independent testing laboratory (standard 4.08). The studio footage itself is not what is certified, so the casino's own game information is still worth reading.
Why do live blackjack tables at different casinos pay differently?
Payout and rule options are set per table. The main one to check is the blackjack payout: 3:2 is standard, while 6:5 raises the house edge noticeably.
What happens if my connection drops mid-round?
The round continues at the studio. Ontario standard 4.21 says that if a game cannot continue, the operator must pay what you had won to that point or return your bets, whichever is better for you.
Are game shows the same as table games?
No. Game shows use a presenter and a set of multipliers or draws, and the decisions you make are very different from a card table.
