What this page covers
We list a casino only when its live blackjack is confirmed. Digital (non-live) blackjack is a separate product, and we do not claim it for a casino unless its review says so.
Table limits, rules and the number of tables change often and are on the casino's own lobby. We do not publish them here.
How blackjack works, and what the rules do to the cost
Blackjack is played against the dealer, not against the other players at the table. You choose to hit, stand and, where the rules allow, double or split, while the dealer follows fixed rules. That decision-making is why the house edge depends so heavily on the table's rules. Published analyses show a blackjack payout of 6 to 5 instead of 3 to 2 adds about 1.4 percentage points to the house edge, a dealer who hits soft 17 adds about 0.2, and more decks in the shoe raise it a little (around 0.66% at eight decks against 0.16% at one). With basic strategy, players typically lose less than 1% of what they wager over the long run, and insurance is not part of basic strategy because it loses money over time.
Live variants add their own rules. Evolution's blackjack page lists Infinite, Free Bet and Power Blackjack tables, side bets such as Perfect Pairs and 21+3, a Six Card Charlie rule in some variants, and Bet Behind at seven-seat tables. Its Power Blackjack uses eight decks with the 9s and 10s removed, so a strategy chart written for a standard deck may not fit it. Pragmatic Play Live lists Free Bet, Blackjack X, ONE Blackjack and Bet Behind Pro among its titles.
What a blackjack listing tells you, and what it does not
The list confirms a live game exists. It does not tell you which version of the rules you will be playing.
- Live blackjack confirmed
- The casino offers at least one live-dealer blackjack table. It does not say which variants are running or how many tables are open.
- Blackjack payout
- 3 to 2 and 6 to 5 tables can both be called blackjack. The payout is in the rules panel, not in a listing.
- Dealer rules
- Whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17, and what doubling and splitting are allowed, are set per game.
- Side bets and Bet Behind
- Side bets are separate wagers with their own odds. Bet Behind lets you wager on another player's hand, so you do not make its decisions.
- Digital blackjack
- A separate, software-driven product. A casino confirmed for live blackjack is not automatically confirmed for it.
Before you play, and mistakes to avoid
Open the rules panel and check the blackjack payout, the dealer's soft 17 rule and what you may double or split. Ontario's standards require rules, payouts and the operator's advantage on each wager to be easily available before you bet (AGCO Standards 4.05 and 4.06). If you use a strategy chart, make sure it matches the variant at the table. Note the minimum bet against your budget, and if you are using a bonus, check how blackjack counts toward wagering, since it is often weighted low or excluded. Our casino bonuses guide explains how those rules work.
The usual mistakes are sitting at a 6 to 5 table without noticing, using one variant's strategy at another, taking insurance, and adding side bets without reading their odds. A fifth is raising stakes after a loss: it changes the size of the swings, not the edge. Standard 4.07 bars operators from telling players that a result is "due", and the same logic applies at the table.
Ontario points
Players must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario. Live tables are streamed from a studio, and operators must have controls so presenters do not compromise a game's integrity (Standard 4.36). Digital blackjack is different: its cards come from a random selection mechanism that, under Standard 4.26, cannot be influenced by the amount wagered or the style of play. Our live dealer casinos page covers live tables in more detail, and how we review shows how a game is marked as confirmed.
