In short: Money Train 2 is Relax Gaming's 2020 sequel built around the Money Cart bonus: a hold-and-spin round where characters collect, double and pay out symbol values on a board that grows as reels fill. Base-game respins break up the wait, and a 50,000x ceiling makes it a genuinely high-volatility game.
Layout and setting
Money Train 2 launched on 2 September 2020 on a 5x4 grid with 40 fixed lines, with stakes from 0.10 to 20 per spin in Relax's euro figures. The four main characters leave the Wild West of the 2019 original for a steampunk, post-apocalyptic world. Relax credits the original's bonus round with making it one of the studio's highest-earning titles, and the sequel keeps that round at its centre.
Respins in the base game
Two bonus symbols landing anywhere start the Respins feature. The bonus symbols reveal multipliers that are added together, and respins continue until a win is built up. Relax added the feature in response to player feedback on the original, to give the base game more action, and its product owner said it had massively ramped up the pace.
The Money Cart Bonus Round
Three or more scatters start the Money Cart round with 3 spins, and new symbols that land give the chance of more. Scatters carry values that are added to the winnings, and a cast of characters acts on them:
- Payer: adds her own value to the pot
- Sniper: doubles the value of up to 8 symbols
- Collector: sums all values on the board and adds his own
- Necromancer: brings spent characters back to life
Persistent characters act on every spin; the others run out of steam after one activation unless the Necromancer revives them. When a reel fills completely with symbols, the board expands, and Relax's launch announcement describes up to two extra reels being unlocked this way. A persistent Collector or Payer on an expanded board is where the round's value compounds.
Where it is offered, a buy feature goes straight to the bonus round.
RTP and volatility
Relax's launch release gives an RTP of 96.40%, rising to 98% when the bonus is bought. Lower settings exist: Relax publishes a 90% version for Germany, and operators can run other configurations, so check the game's info screen; here is why the same slot can have different RTP.
Relax says it turned the volatility up from the original, and its own coverage calls the sequel a high-volatility slot. The top win is 50,000x the bet. In the ten days after launch, Relax reported sixteen 50,000x wins and more than 5,000 wins of 1,000x the bet. Those counts come without the number of rounds played, so they show that the ceiling is reachable rather than how likely it is.
The series in brief
The 2019 original topped out at 20,000x. Money Train 3 doubled the ceiling to 100,000x with a 10 top stake and four buy options, and Money Train 4 went to 150,000x with a 6 top stake. Each sequel has raised the maximum win and lowered the maximum bet.
Demo notes
The Money Cart round has more moving parts than most bonus rounds, and Relax publishes no trigger rate or range of scatter values, so the free demo is the best place to learn it. Watch which characters arrive persistent, how often a reel fills, and what is on the board when the Collector acts. Those three things decide most rounds.
