In short: Money Train 3 is the 2022 third chapter of Relax Gaming's Money Train series, with the Money Cart bonus loaded with new characters such as the Shapeshifter, the Absorber and the Tommy Gun. It doubles the previous game's ceiling to 100,000x and offers four ways to buy into the bonus. Expect a dense, high-volatility bonus round and a base game that mostly waits for it.
Forty fixed lines and a losing-spin respin
Money Train 3 was released on 22 September 2022 on five reels with 40 fixed lines, with stakes from 0.10 to 10 per spin in Relax's euro figures. Relax calls it a high-volatility game and keeps the steampunk, post-apocalyptic setting of the second game.
The base game has one rule of its own. After any spin without a win, the Respins feature can trigger: one symbol already on the reels is made sticky and an extra spin is awarded. It softens a dead spin rather than changing the game's shape.
The Money Cart round
Three or more bonus symbols anywhere start the Money Cart Bonus Round with three spins, and the triggering symbols reveal values shown as multiples of the bet. Four characters return with what Relax calls a persistent edge: the Collector, the Sniper, the Necromancer and the Collector-Payer. Three newcomers raise the complexity:
- Persistent Shapeshifter: turns into a different feature on every spin
- Absorber: soaks up all multipliers on the board and adds them to itself
- Tommy Gun: held by the Payer or the Sniper, targets one symbol type before adding to its value
The Payer was reworked too. Relax's senior product owner said players found the old version unrewarding, so it now hits one symbol for a bigger payout several times instead of spreading a small value across every symbol. Relax's head of R&D has said the Shapeshifter adds real anticipation to every bonus spin.
A 100,000x ceiling, and how fast it was hit
The maximum win is 100,000x the stake, double the 50,000x of Money Train 2. Relax's head of R&D said many different combinations of special symbols can reach it and that the game produced fourteen 100,000x wins in its first four days. That count covers every player and every round in those days, so it cannot be turned into odds, but it does show the ceiling is reachable in real rounds.
RTP: several settings
The headline RTP is 96.10%, or 96.50% for the feature buy. Relax also publishes a 94.00% alternative and a 90.00% version for Germany. Operators choose which one they run, and the gap between the top and bottom settings is six points, so check the game's info screen before comparing versions; the guide on why the same slot can have different RTP explains why this happens.
Four ways to buy the round
Relax names four bonus buy options: a 100x buy, a 2 Spin Bonus, a 1 Spin Bonus and a 500x Persistent Bonus. Not every option may be offered in every market or by every operator. Relax gives the names and little else, so how the four differ in content and return is not public.
Where it sits in the series
Money Train 3 sits between the 50,000x of the second game and the 150,000x of Money Train 4. Its top stake of 10 is half the second game's 20, continuing the series' pattern of higher ceilings and lower maximum bets.
Demo notes
This is a feature-stacking game, and its appeal depends on enjoying a screen full of interacting symbols. Anyone who prefers a balance that moves gradually, or a game that can be explained in one sentence, will find it hard going. In the free demo, watch how often a losing spin turns into a held-symbol respin, how many bonus symbols arrive at the trigger, and which feature the Shapeshifter becomes on each spin.
