In short: Mental 2 is Nolimit City's 2025 asylum sequel: a small 3-2-3-2-3 grid that splits, expands and rewrites itself through Fire Frames, Enhancer Cells and random multipliers up to x9,999. It has three free spins modes, a buy menu that runs up to 6,666x the bet and a 99,999x ceiling. It is for experienced players who want maximum complexity and accept extreme swings.
A small grid that keeps splitting
Mental 2 was released on 25 March 2025 as the follow-up to Nolimit City's 2021 hit Mental. Its five reels hold 3, 2, 3, 2 and 3 positions, which gives a minimum of 108 ways to win. That is only the floor: most features split symbols or add rows.
The base game is built on Fire Frames. On any spin, 1 to 13 positions can turn into Fire Frames, and a symbol landing in one splits into two. Separately, 1 to 5 whole reels can become Fire Reels, where every symbol splits into three. Enhancer Cells on reels 2, 3 and 4 switch on as Fire Frames build up (four frames open reel 2's cell, six open reels 2 and 4, eight open all three) and can reveal a wild, an xSplit, an xNudge Wild, a Patient symbol or an xWays symbol.
Where the multipliers come from
The big numbers sit in the Dead Patients. When two Dead Patient symbols are in play, a Patient symbol is revealed with a random multiplier of x5, x10, x15, x30, x50, x100, x200, x500, x1,000 or x9,999. The xNudge Wild adds 1 to its multiplier for each step it nudges into view, xWays reveals a stack of matching symbols and makes the reel taller, and xSplit splits every symbol to its left.
Two rarer symbols push further. The xHole, on reel three, lands in a Fire Frame or Fire Reel and scatters paying symbols and wilds to random positions with their sizes multiplied by x2, x4 or x8. The xMental symbol, also landing in a Fire Frame or Fire Reel, triggers an extra spin in which every position is a Fire Frame. At the top sits xGod: one on each reel in a single spin pays the 99,999x maximum on the spot.
Three free spins modes
Cognitive Scatters land on reels 1, 3 and 5, and Disembodied Scatters on reels 2 and 4. Three Cognitive Scatters give 8 Bloodletting Spins, adding one Disembodied Scatter gives 9 Surgery Spins, and adding two gives 10 ExperiMENTAL Spins. Scatters landing in a Fire Frame or Fire Reel award one or two extra spins.
In Bloodletting Spins the Fire Frames and Fire Reels stay sticky, and a Disembodied Scatter upgrades the round mid-feature. Surgery and ExperiMENTAL keep the Disembodied symbols sticky and run Mental Transform every spin, turning them into xWays, xSplit, Dead Patient, wild or Patient symbols. A Dead Multiplier collects the highest Dead Patient value: in Surgery its count ticks down with each transfer, while in ExperiMENTAL it never decrements and keeps building, which makes that mode the one to hope for.
The numbers: 96.06%, Insane volatility, 1 in 16 million
Nolimit City's standard RTP for Mental 2 is 96.06%, and an Ontario-regulated casino shows the same figure. Nolimit City supplies some of its games with lower settings, so confirm the number in the game's info screen; why the same slot can have different RTP explains why.
Nolimit rates the volatility Insane, a rating that sits beyond the usual low-to-high scale, and backs it with unusually open stats: a 31.41% hit frequency, free spins about once every 249 spins on average and a maximum-win probability of 1 in 16 million. Read together, those numbers say most spins pay little or nothing, the bonus is a long-run average rather than a promise, and the 99,999x cap is practically theoretical for any one session.
Nolimit's bet range is 0.20 to 100 per spin, though casinos set their own limits. The buy menu offers xBet at 1.4x the base bet (a guaranteed Cognitive Scatter on reel 1), Fire Frames at 6x, xHole at 99x, xMental at 3,200x and God Mode at 6,666x. Buys are not available in every market or casino version.
How it compares with Mental
The 2021 original has a 96.08% RTP, a 66,666x cap, a 34.19% hit frequency and free spins at 1 in 216. The sequel raises the ceiling by half and makes both wins and bonuses a little rarer.
Is it for you?
Mental 2 asks a lot: a dozen interacting mechanics, dark surgical imagery and a math model built for rare, huge results. Fans of complex slots will find plenty here. Anyone after a relaxed game or a quick bonus should start in the free demo and watch how often Fire Frames, scatters and Dead Patients actually line up.
