From Microgaming to Games Global

Games Global is a content company formed in early 2021 as a private-capital-backed business. Its first chief executive, Walter Bugno, had worked at IGT and Lottomatica. In November 2021 it agreed to buy the games and distribution side of Microgaming, and trade press reported the deal complete in May 2022. Microgaming itself dates to 1994 on the Isle of Man and kept a platform and services business after the sale.

The company's website describes thousands of titles from more than 50 studio partners. Because the catalogue moved with the sale, older games that players knew under the Microgaming name are the same games now credited to Games Global, and some lobbies show one name and some the other.

Ways to win, vampires and thunder gods

Both titles on this page are 5x3, 243-ways slots from the early 2010s, and both are built around a free spins feature that opens up over repeat visits. Immortal Romance has a random Wild Desire feature that can turn up to five reels wild, and a Chamber of Spins where four characters are on offer: Amber from the start, then Troy, Michael and Sarah as the feature is triggered 5, 10 and 15 times.

ThunderStruck II follows the same pattern in its Great Hall of Spins. Valkyrie is open from the start, and Loki, Odin and Thor unlock at the same trigger counts, each with its own rule, such as random wild transformations or rolling reels. Its Wildstorm feature can turn between one and five reels wild in the base game. Immortal Romance later received a sequel from Stormcraft Studios in 2024, a development unit Microgaming launched in 2018.

Reading the figures

Games Global's own pages were not readable for this research, and published RTP, volatility and maximum-win figures for both titles differ between listings, so we quote none. Operators can run other settings; see why the same slot can have different RTP.

The unlock structure matters in practice. Someone who has triggered the feature only a few times sees only the first character's version, and the richer chambers need repeated triggers to open. Dry spells are normal, and RTP is a long-run average, not a promise for any one session.

Ontario status and the demos

A September 2026 release about Games Global's Alberta registration says it previously entered Ontario's market. We found no dated Ontario announcement, so no launch date is given here.

The demos on this page are the studio's unmodified games, played with virtual credits only, for adults 19+ in Ontario. ConnexOntario is free on 1-866-531-2600, and responsible gambling lists further support.
