Casumo Exits Ontario’s Regulated Online Casino Market

Casumo Exits Ontario’s Regulated Online Casino Market

Casumo stopped offering online casino games to Ontario players on 30 April 2026, ending a presence in the province’s regulated market that began in November 2022. The Malta-based operator, founded in Sweden, closed the remaining Ontario accounts on 14 May. Under the terms of its wind-down notice, as reported by Canadian Gaming Business, money not withdrawn by then was forfeited.

Casumo has not explained the decision and declined to comment when Canadian Gaming Business asked for a reason. Its Ontario web address now shows a single line, “Casumo Ontario is no longer available,” with a support email address. The brand no longer appears in iGaming Ontario’s list of regulated sites, which is dated 1 September 2026.

A six-week wind-down

The exit was handled in stages. Casumo began emailing Ontario customers on 1 April, the day it stopped accepting new registrations and introduced minimum withdrawal amounts. The remaining deadlines were:

  • 8 April: last day to claim pending bonuses;
  • 23 April: last day for deposits;
  • 30 April: all Ontario play ended;
  • 14 May: all player accounts closed.

That left players about two weeks between the end of play and account closure to cash out. Casumo’s notice warned that “any outstanding unwithdrawn funds will be forfeited” after 14 May, Canadian Gaming Business reported.

One of several departures since 2025

Casumo was among the earlier entrants to Ontario’s private market, which opened on 4 April 2022. It went live in November that year and, by the time it left, offered more than 3,300 slots alongside table and live dealer games from suppliers including Playtech, Pragmatic Play, Light & Wonder, NetEnt and Play’n GO.

Its exit followed Toronto-based Rivalry, which suspended Ontario play in February 2026, and a run of departures in 2025 that included the British sportsbook Fitzdares, the Betiton and MagicRed white-label brands and the Wildz group. Fitzdares said the cost of doing business had become prohibitive; the Wildz group said it was moving away from consumer-facing play to focus on supplying other operators. Casumo continues to operate outside Ontario, but those operations sit outside the province’s regulatory framework.

The market has kept adding brands at the same time. BetNova went live on 9 April, while Casumo was winding down, and Hard Rock Bet and Fanatics Casino followed on 22 July and 1 September. iGaming Ontario’s current listing counts 49 operators running 84 gaming websites.

What it means for players in Ontario

For former Casumo customers, the account deadline has passed, but unresolved problems can still be raised. iGaming Ontario’s player support process normally requires a formal complaint to the operator first. Disputes involving an operator that has stopped operating in Ontario can go to iGaming Ontario directly, and players should have their Casumo player ID and any complaint reference number ready. iGaming Ontario says it does not settle bets, refund wagers or award compensation, so the process is best suited to documented account and payment problems.

Casumo’s exit is a reminder that a regulated site can close on a few weeks’ notice. Players with accounts anywhere in the market are in a better position if their identity verification is complete before they need a withdrawal, and if they keep copies of transaction histories and support correspondence.
